November 6th(Taiwan.cn)—Recently, the 2025 China Woodball Open successfully concluded at the Chengde Modern Manor Woodball Base in Guangde, Anhui. Lai Jiarong, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangde Municipal Party Committee, attended the closing ceremony.
This year’s tournament featured three divisions — the Youth Group, Veteran Group, and Open Group — and included several events such as individual stroke play, doubles, and team competitions. A total of 58 teams and 452 players from across the country participated, including 13 teams and 146 players from Guangde. Twelve event champions were crowned in total. During the competition, participants from Taiwan’s woodball community joined through online viewing and technical exchanges, further deepening cultural interaction and mutual understanding between both sides.
Looking ahead, Guangde will continue to use woodball as a bridge for exchange. In conjunction with the Zhejiang–Anhui regional meeting of the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, the city plans to host the Zhejiang–Anhui Taiwan Businessmen Friendship Woodball Tournament. At the same time, Guangde will carry out investment promotion activities focused on new quality productive forces, technological and industrial innovation, the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, and Taiwan’s characteristic industries. These initiatives aim to strengthen cooperation with the Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland, local Taiwan business associations, and key Taiwanese enterprises — fostering closer and more frequent interactions between compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
It is reported that woodball originated in Taiwan, and since its introduction to Guangde in 2024 by the city’s Taiwan Affairs Office and Municipal Bureau of Education and Sports, the sport has become an important vehicle for promoting national fitness, empowering the health and wellness industries, and deepening cross-strait exchanges.
